Ferries and toll bridges with an EV in Denmark
Bridges and ferries need a little extra planning. That goes for both the price and the charging stop.
Toll bridges
It costs money to cross the Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsbroen) and the Øresund Bridge, and the tolls are not included in Elmer's charging prices. If you want to avoid toll bridges and ferries, the Elmer app can plan around them.
Charge before the ferry
Put the charging stop before the ferry, so the wait at the harbour does not eat into your driving time. Many ferry ports have rapid chargers, but they can be busy just before departure.
Good advice
Drive on board with enough charge to reach a charger on the other side.
Use the wait at the harbour to charge, if there is a free charger.
Check whether the route around the bridge is longer. The extra electricity can cost more than you save on the toll.
